Ingredients

  • ½ c butter
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 c flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ c milk
  • 1 29-oz can sliced peaches in heavy syrup

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Melt butter in a 2 qt casserole dish (I use the microwave).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour and baking powder.
  • Add the milk and stir until combined.
  • Pour the batter over the melted butter; do not stir.
  • Pour the can of peaches (with the liquid!) over the batter; once again, do not stir.
  • Sprinkle the top with cinnamon, if desired.
  • Bake for 1 hour; the batter will rise to the top and the peaches will be on the bottom in a delicious sauce.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

This recipe is easy to halve if you want don't have several people to feed. Simply use a 15 oz can of sliced peaches and decrease the baking time to 45 minutes
