Look out chocolate brownies, there's a new kid in town! Say hello to these soft almond brownies that will have everyone coming back for more......well, as long as there's some left!
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9x13 pan.
Melt the butter in a saucepan or in the microwave; let cool slightly.
In a mixer, beat the eggs and the sugar. Add the flour, salt and baking powder. Then slowly add in the melted butter and almond extract. Scrape the sides of the bowl down and stir once more.
Pour into the prepared 9x13 pan.
Sprinkle with sliced almonds and sugar. I use about 2 tablespoons each.
Bake at 350°F for 18-20 minutes or until just lightly brown on top. Do not overbake.
