Ingredients

Bread Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup butter melted
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Icing Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons orange juice or milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325℉ and grease & flour a loaf pan; set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs.

  • Add the melted butter, vegetable oil, milk, vanilla and almond extract. Whisk until smooth.

  • Add the flour, poppy seeds, baking powder and salt. Stir until combined.

  • Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick pressed into the center of the loaf comes out dry or with just a few moist crumbs.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes then release onto a cooling rack to cool completely.
  • In a small bowl, stir together the powdered sugar, almond extract and 1 tablespoon of the orange juice. Add more orange juice if needed to create a consistency perfect for drizzling.

  • Drizzle the icing over the loaf.
