Homemade Brownies

These homemade brownies are moist, chewy and chock-full of chocolate!!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2/3 cup salted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup very hot water (or coffee)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 12-ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chunks)
  • 1 4-ounce high quality chocolate bar (I like semi-sweet chocolate) chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F and grease a 9x13 pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder and melted butter.
  • Pour the very hot water in and whisk until well-combined. Let cool for a couple of minutes.
  • Whisk in the sugar, eggs and vanilla.
  • Then, stir in the flour, salt, baking soda and chocolate chips.
  • Spread the batter into the prepared 9x13 pan and top with pieces of the chopped chocolate bar.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes.
