Banana Cookies

These Banana Cookies are soft and chewy and topped with a smooth cream cheese frosting!

Ingredients

Cookies

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup mashed bananas (about 2 large bananas)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • chopped nuts optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Cream the butter, sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Beat in the egg, bananas and vanilla until smooth.

  • Add the soda, salt and flour and mix until combined.

  • Use a cookie scoop to form cookies on a parchment-lined (or greased) sheet pan, leaving at least 2 inches between cookies.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Let cool for 2-3 minutes and transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  • Make the frosting: Beat the cream cheese until smooth.  Add the powdered sugar and vanilla then stir until smooth.

  • Spread the frosting over the cookies and sprinkle with chopped nuts, if desired.

Notes

These cookies are great with or without the pecans on top!  If you choose to skip the pecans, try adding a dried banana chip, mini chocolate chips, or garnishing with colored sprinkles!
