Cheeseburger Braid

This quick and easy Cheeseburger Braid is a fun way to change up the weeknight meal routine! Top with your favorite cheeseburger toppings to customize to your liking!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon minced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • One 13.8 ounce tube refrigerated pizza crust
  • 4 slices Cheddar or American cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • Condiments such as ketchup, mustard, pickles, etc, to serve with the braid. Optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350℉ and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Brown the ground beef in a skillet; drain the excess grease.
  • Return the skillet to the stovetop and add the minced onion, salt and pepper.
  • Stir and cook for a couple minutes; remove from the heat.
  • Unroll the pizza dough onto the parchment paper and press into a rectangle.
  • Use a pizza cutter to cut each side of the braid into about 12 strips.
  • Spoon the ground meat mixture over the center 1/3 of the pizza dough.
  • Place the slices of cheese over the meat.
  • Fold the strips of dough over the filling, alternating sides.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and 1 tablespoon of water; brush the egg wash over the dough.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Bake for 20-22 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  • Slice and serve warm with condiments, if desired.

Notes

Like extra cheese??  Add four slices before you add the meat for an extra layer!
Going for Bacon Cheeseburger vibes?  Add 1/2 cup of crumbled bacon over the ground beef!
