Tuna Burgers

These tuna burgers are protein-packed, full of flavor, crisp on the outside and have a tender interior. Garnish with toppings of your choice for a quick and easy dinner idea!

Ingredients

  • One 12 ounce can tuna in water drained
  • 2 slices white bread torn into small pieces
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup finely diced celery
  • 2 tablespoon diced red onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • hamburger buns, lettuce, tomato slices and tartar sauce for topping, if desired

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the tuna, bread pieces, egg, mayo, celery, onion and black pepper.
  • Divide the mixture into 4-6 even portion and form into burger patties (I typically do about 1 cm thick); set aside.
  • Bring a skillet to medium heat and add 1 tbsp butter, vegetable oil or spray with cooking spray.
  • Place the patties on the hot skillet and cook for 5 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Flip the patties and cook an additional 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Serve on buns with lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce, if desired.
