Turtle Poke Cake

Turtle Poke Cake has a chocolate cake base soaked with caramel and topped with a fluffy chocolate-caramel whipped cream and crunchy pecans. It’s everything you love about turtle candies—soft, gooey, chocolatey, and completely irresistible!

  • 1 9x13-inch baking pan

Ingredients

  • 1 box Devil's food cake mix* plus ingredients called for on box
  • 1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3/4 cup caramel sauce* divided
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 8-ounce tub whipped topping
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • additional caramel sauce, fudge sauce and/or chocolate shavings for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Prepare the chocolate cake according to package instructions in a 9x13-inch pan.
    1 box Devil's food cake mix*
  • Combine condensed milk and 1/2 cup caramel.
    1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk, 3/4 cup caramel sauce*
  • Poke holes into the cake with the handle of a wooden spoon or a straw.
  • Pour the caramel mixture over the warm cake.
  • Cover the cake with foil or a lid and refrigerate for a few hours.
  • Whisk together cocoa powder and 1/4 cup caramel sauce. Use a rubber spatula to gently stir in the whipped topping.
    3 tablespoons cocoa powder, 1 8-ounce tub whipped topping
  • Spread over the chilled cake.
  • Top with pecans and additional caramel and fudge sauce, if desired.
    1/2 cup chopped pecans, additional caramel sauce, fudge sauce and/or chocolate shavings for garnish

Notes

*You can also use a chocolate or dark chocolate cake mix.
*I recommend using a jarred caramel sauce.  The plastic bottles of caramel ice cream topping will be too runny.
