If you’re looking for a super easy, yet unforgettable dessert, this is the one! These crescent roll apple dumplings take just a few minutes to prep, have a soft apple filling and a buttery rich Fireball Whiskey sauce – YUM!

I remember apple dumplings being such a treat when I was little. Mom would peel and core the apples, make a homemade crust, wrap the apples, and bake them until the apples were tender. Oh and serve them with ice cream, because ice cream is the perfect companion to any dessert, amiright?!
Those apple dumplings were absolute perfection. They were also time-consuming to put togetherโฆ..which is probably why a working mother of four didnโt make them often!
As much as I seriously love those apple dumplings, most times, Iโm looking for a quick and easy dessert. These crescent roll apple dumplings are soft apple slices wrapped in a buttery crescent roll and surrounded by a pool of cinnamon whiskey sauce.
These are rich, buttery, and 100% IRRESISTIBLE. Seriously, theyโre addictive! I always tell myself that I should stop at one, but thatโs like saying youโre only gonna have one potato chip. Thatโs just not happeninโ!

So as much as I wish I wouldโve been the one to come up with the idea of a simple crescent-wrapped apple dumpling, Iโve got Ree Drummond to thank! Iโm a huge Pioneer Woman fan โ how could you not be?! Sheโs got a super funny and bubbly personality, the best recipes and the most beautiful dinnerware and kitchen accessories! And thereโs something about her adorable Oklahoman accent I just love!!! Ok, totally just went down a rabbit holeโฆโฆback to the dumplingsโฆ..
How do I make crescent roll apple dumplings?
Easy!! Really, this recipe is easy. I’ll break it down into a few simple steps…
- Prep the apples by coring, peeling, and cutting into 8 slices. Open the biscuit tube and separate the crescent roll dough.
- Roll a crescent dough piece around each apple and place in a baking pan with the “tail” of the dough under the dumpling.
- Combine the butter, sugar, brown sugar, and water in a saucepan and heat until the butter is melted and sugars dissolved. Remove from the heat and stir in the Fireball!
- Pour the sauce around the dumplings and sprinkle a cinnamon-sugar combo over each one.
- Bake at 350F for 35 to 40 minutes or until the apples are tender and the tops are a beautiful golden brown.

How do I reheat apple dumplings?
Don’t plan to have leftovers of these babies…..it’s highly likely they’ll be completely demolished. However, in the (rare) case that you do have leftovers, microwaving a couple at a time is simple.
I recommend putting 1-2 dumplings on a microwave safe plate, covering with a paper towel and nuking them for 15-20 seconds. And then of course top them with a scoop of ice cream and enjoy those incredible leftovers!
What’s the best kind of apple to use for the dumplings?
For this recipe, I really like to use Granny Smith apples. The tartness from the apple pairs really nicely with the sweet and butter sauce. No Granny Smith’s? No worries. Jonagolds and Braeburns will work great, too!
Can I use any other kinds of fruit instead of apples for this recipe?
Apples are a classic and a natural fit for the Fireball Whiskey. However, I’ve also tried these using peaches and I LOVED it. Instead of using one large apple, peel and remove the pit of two small fresh peaches. Cut each one into quarters and follow the recipe the same as you would from that point forward.
Using fresh peaches and apples are definitely the best way to go. However, if you only have a can of peach slices, that will work. I would recommend that you pat each slice down with a paper towel so it’s easier to wrap and doesn’t get as soggy inside.
