But when it comes to macaroni salads, I’m super duper picky. If it’s a goopy, mayo-saturated mac salad, it’s a quick pass for me. However, there’s one macaroni salad that I can’t pass up and it’s the Sweet Macaroni Salad I’m sharing with you today! It’s got the ideal texture and the perfect ratio of tang and sweetness!! And best of all? It’s EASY!!
Macaroni Salad Ingredients
- Elbow Macaroni
- Onion (I like to use red onion for a little extra color!)
- Shredded Carrots
- Mayonnaise
- Sugar
- Sweetened Condensed Milk
- Vinegar
How do you make Macaroni Salad from scratch?
You guys, this recipe is SO simple. First, you’ll cook the noodles and combine them with the grated carrots and chopped onion. Then, you’ll whisk together the remaining ingredients and combine it with the pasta mixture.
To store this macaroni salad, keep it in a tightly-sealed container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Sweet Macaroni Salad
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pound elbow macaroni cooked
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup grated carrots
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- One 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup vinegar
Instructions
- Place the cooked macaroni, onion and carrots in a large bowl; set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sugar, sweetened condensed milk and vinegar.
- Pour dressing over the macaroni, onion and carrots and stir to combine.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
