I love our definition of a salad here in the Midwest. Like really, let's think about it....Snicker's Salad? Yup. Strawberry Pretzel Salad? Love it. Jell-O Salad? Sign me up. What's not to love?!

But when it comes to macaroni salads, I'm super duper picky. If it's a goopy, mayo-saturated mac salad, it's a quick pass for me. However, there's one macaroni salad that I can't pass up and it's the Sweet Macaroni Salad I'm sharing with you today! It's got the ideal texture and the perfect ratio of tang and sweetness!! And best of all? It's EASY!!

    sweet macaroni salad ingredients.

    Macaroni Salad Ingredients

    • Elbow Macaroni
    • Onion (I like to use red onion for a little extra color!)
    • Shredded Carrots
    • Mayonnaise
    • Sugar
    • Sweetened Condensed Milk
    • Vinegar
A bowl of the dressing ingredients being whisked
Dressing being poured over the rest of the carrots, onions, and noodles.

How do you make Macaroni Salad from scratch?

You guys, this recipe is SO simple. First, you'll cook the noodles and combine them with the grated carrots and chopped onion. Then, you'll whisk together the remaining ingredients and combine it with the pasta mixture.

To store this macaroni salad, keep it in a tightly-sealed container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
