Ingredients Needed (Full Amounts in the Recipe Card Below!)

  • Eggs – I always use size “large” eggs. Be sure to save one of the yolks for the egg wash on top for a shiny golden brown crescent tops!
  • Milk – Any milk is fine (just steer clear of sweetened or flavored milks).
  • Salt – I like Lawry’s seasoned salt, but you can do a combination of salt and pepper if you prefer.
  • Crescent Rolls – You’ll need two 8 ounce tubes with 8 crescent triangles each.
  • Cream Cheese Spread – You can use plain, law-fat, chive & onion, garlic & herb, garden vegetable….or skip it altogether!
  • Bacon – Cook up your own bacon or skip the fuss and chop up some precooked bacon!
  • Cheese – Cheddar, Monterey Jack, Colby Jack, Pepperjack….take your pick! I find that freshly shredded cheese melts the creamiest, though pre-shredded cheese will do the trick, too!
  • Chives & Gravy – Top with fresh chives or chopped green onions and dip it in warmed country gravy!

How to Make A Breakfast Crescent Ring

Start by preheating the oven, lining a sheet pan with parchment (if using), and preparing the fillings.

First up, get the bacon cooking (or use precooked bacon!) and whip up the scrambled eggs. I always like to add a splash of milk or a spoonful of cottage cheese for extra cheesy eggs! Once you whisk the eggs, milk, and seasonings, cook them on the stovetop. Set aside while you work with the crescent dough.

Open the two tubes of crescent rolls and gently peel apart the triangles of dough. Now you’re going to arrange the triangles of dough into a sunburst shape with the shortest edge of each triangle forming a circle in the middle.

I find it easiest to use a bowl to ensure that my circle is….a circle, ha!

Press the crescent rolls together to form a good base for the fillings. Spread some cream cheese around the circle and follow that with the scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheese.

Quick Tip!

If you want to add more to your filling (onions, diced bell peppers, sausage, etc.), now is the time to do so!

Remove the bowl in the center then one at a time, you’ll pull the tails of the crescent dough over the filling and into the center of the circle. Tuck the tips under the crescent ring.

Lastly, you’ll brush the tops of the crescent rolls with a simple egg wash (an egg yolk + 1 tablespoon water). Bake until golden brown, about 16-18 minutes!

Variations & Substitutions

  • Try Sausage or Ham – Try swapping out the bacon for cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage or diced ham! Or try a combo!
  • Add Some Veggies – Adding some diced red or green bell pepper and/or finely diced onions is a nice add to this breakfast dish!
  • Change Up the Cheese – Monterey jack, colby jack, and pepperjack are all really great options for this breakfast ring! Only have sliced cheese? That’ll work, too!
  • Midwest Twist – Add 1/2 cup of fresh sweet corn kernels after adding the bacon. It’ll add a little bit of sweetness in each bite!

What to Serve with The Breakfast Crescent Ring

I like to serve it with a glass of milk and a side of fresh fruit or my frozen fruit cups. And as someone who always wants a little something sweet with any meal, these mini snickerdoodle muffins are the perfect little bite-sized addition to the meal!

Let it cool then cut into slices and store in an airtight container. You can keep them in the fridge for 3-5 days (might be getting a bit soggy on the bottom by day 5) or freeze them for later!

I love when I have leftover crescent ring in the freezer as it makes for a perfect, quick and delicious breakfast! Pop it in the microwave until warmed through and enjoy!
