Snickers Salad is an easy recipe combining creamy pudding with chewy candy bars and crisp apples! It’s always a big hit, especially at family gatherings and potlucks!
In my neck of the woods, the word salad could mean two very different things. It could be a dish full of fresh fruits and/or veggies OR it could essentially be….whipped cream mixed with a few other ingredients. You know what I mean…pistachio salad (aka Watergate salad), ambrosia salad, grape salad and any flavor of Jello salad! Mmmm!!
But this Snickers apple salad with just five simple ingredients is easily my favorite! This Midwest staple is a sweet salad everyone seems to LOVE – I think you will too!
Ingredients Needed (Amounts in Recipe Card Below)
- Instant Pudding Mix – We always use French Vanilla but vanilla would work fine too! Do NOT use Cook ‘N Serve pudding as it will end up being a runny mess.
- Milk – I prefer to use 2% or whole milk for the best, most creamy consistency!
- Tub of Whipped Topping – You can also make homemade whipped cream if you’d like!
- Candy Bars – You’ll use 3 full size Snickers bars (or more to your liking!). See recipe notes below if you have fun size or mini candy bars! Either way, you’ll cut them into bite-sized pieces.
- Apples – I typically use Granny Smith apples as I like the tart apples to offset the sweetness from the other ingredients.
How to Make Snickers Salad
This sweet side dish is a cinch to whip up! Here’s how!
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cold milk and pudding mix. Let it sit for 5 minutes to thicken.
Use a rubber spatula to fold in the whipped topping.
When you’re ready to serve, stir the bite sized apple pieces and Snickers into the pudding mixture.
Transfer to a serving bowl & enjoy!
I like to add a drizzle of caramel sauce and sprinkle a few extra candy bar pieces on top!
Fun Variations to Try
- Use Different Apples! Try using a different variety of apple or use a mixture of red and green apples for a little more color! Pink Lady, Braeburn, Jonathan or McIntosh are all great options.
- Add Other Fruits! Some people like adding a variety of fruit, like apples, grapes and strawberries! In my opinion, don’t mess with a good thing, haha! I like to keep it simple with just apples.
- Try Other Candies! Other great candy bar options include Milky Way, Baby Ruth or PayDay…or use a combination and simply call it candy bar salad!
Frequently Asked Questions
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days. Please note that it will be best on the first day as the candy bars will soften and the apples will become less crisp over time.
I do not recommend freezing this salad. The pudding would be soupy and seperate when thawed. If you wanna get technical, in food science terms this is call syneresis (essentially the weeping of a liquid from a gel).
Yes! If you want to lighten it up a bit, use sugar free instant pudding mix and light (or sugar free) whipped topping. You can also use skim milk – I’d just recommend using a little less milk (3/4 cup) to keep the consistency the same.
If you want to prep the salad ahead of time, but wait until you’re ready to serve the salad to mix in the Snickers and fresh apples. You can cut up the candy bars and keep them in a baggie so they’re ready to mix in. You can also cut up the apples and store them in a container with water + lemon juice so they don’t turn brown. When ready to serve, drain the water and pat them dry with a paper towel before mixing in.

- 1 8-ounce tub whipped topping defrosted
- 3 full size Snickers candy bars chopped into 1/2 inch pieces
- 3 Granny Smith apples chopped into 1/2 inch pieces
Instructions

Notes
- Use whatever size candy bars you’ve got!
- 3 full size Snickers = 10 fun size = 18 mini size = 2 king size
- Other apple varieties can also be used; I recommend a tart apple to offset the sweetness from the pudding, whipped topping and candy bars.
- Store for up to 5 days in the fridge; please note that it will be best on day 1 as the apples and candy bars will soften with time.
- Feel free to use more apples or candy bars – I like this ratio so it’s not super duper chunky; just right! 🙂
