Living on the farm is something I’ve always wanted for my kids. It’s how I was raised and although farming isn't always sunshine and roses, it's the lifestyle I want to be a part of.
However, like any other job, there are times of the year that are simply hectic. And for corn and soybean farmers, it's spring (planting) and fall (harvest). The craziness of these hurry-up-and-wait, weather-dependent seasons calls for quick meals that are easy to enjoy on the go.
These sliders have become a go-to meal for us! They start with a package of Hawaiian rolls, get loaded up with ham and cheese, then topped with a perfectly-seasoned butter sauce before heating up in the oven. Easy, flavorful, delish.
What goes well with these easy Ham and Cheese Sliders?
I've used these as an appetizer-type dish for game day or for the main dish on busy week nights. When serving as an appetizer, I'd pair these with chips and dip and some sweet snack, like my Cookies and Cream Puppy Chow.
How to make Ham and Cheese Sliders
There are many recipes for Hawaiian roll ham and cheese sliders out there, but if you're looking for one without poppyseeds, this is for you!
1. Slice the rolls in half; place the bottom layer in the baking dish.
2. Layer cheddar cheese, ham and provolone.
3. Place bun tops on.
4. Mix up butter sauce and brush over the sliders.
5. Cover with foil and bake.

How do you serve sliders at a party?
I find it easiest to remove all of the sandwiches out of the pan at once with a large spatula. Put them on a cutting board and give them a couple minutes to cool. Use a serrated knife to cut them into 12 sliders and either place back in the hot dish (to keep them warm) or stack on a plate!
- Make them ahead of time! Get the sliders prepped and covered and pop in the fridge for up to 4 hours.
- Feeding a crowd? Double, triple, quadruple the recipe!
- Go for variety. If you're feeding a crowd and want a couple meat and cheese options, go for it! Try ham and swiss, turkey and pepperjack, ham and provolone... whatever floats your boat! 🙂
- Don't like Hawaiian rolls? Use another type of slider bun.
- Pass on non-butter substitutes. Sometimes you can get away with margarine or butter alternative. These sandwiches just won't be the same without the real deal.

Ham and Cheese Sliders
- 1 pkg Hawaiian roll slider buns
- 6 slices cheddar cheese
- ¾ lb sliced ham
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- ¼ c butter melted
- 2 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon parsley
- Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13 pan with cooking spray.
- Remove slider buns from their package and slice horizontally, so you have a top layer and a bottom layer.
- Place the bottom layer in the prepared pan.
- Add the cheddar cheese in an even layer.
- Next, add the ham.
- And then the layer of provolone cheese.
- Then, top the sliders with the bun tops and set aside.
- Make the sauce by combining the melted butter, parmesan, red pepper, garlic, onion powder and parsley. Brush it over the sliders.
- Cover the sliders with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake an additional 3-5 minutes or until heated through and golden brown on top.
