If you’re looking for a recipe your family will absolutely DEVOUR, look no further. My family loves these so much, I typically end up making a double batch (one loaded with meat AND veggies for me and the hubby)!!

From my hot pizza dip to the famous pizza braid, the pizza pasta skillet and our favorite stuffed crust pizza, my family simply loves anything pizza-flavored! Give these sliders a try and you’ll quickly see why we fell in love with them!

Ingredients Needed

  • Hawaiian Rolls – The original Kings Hawaiian rolls are my favorite! There are many knock-off brands now…I’ve tried a few but much prefer the Kings Hawaiian.
  • Pepperoni Slices – You can grab a 3 ounce package of the small slices or grab the larger slices at the deli.
  • Mozzarella Cheese – I like to shred my own cheese (so much more gooey & delicious!) but you can use a bag of shredded cheese instead. You can also opt to use a package of sliced mozzarella cheese (you’ll need about 10-12 slices).
  • Ground Italian Sausage – I like the Johnsonville ground mild Italian sausage. Some grocery stores carry pre-cooked sausage crumbles, which is super convenient!
  • Butter – Salted or unsalted butter is great.
  • Parmesan Cheese – Grated parmesan is recommended for this.
  • Seasonings – Garlic powder, Italian seasoning, parsley and red pepper flakes.

How to Make Hawaiian Roll Pizza Sliders

You’ll start by cutting the Hawaiian rolls in half (use a serrated knife) and placing the bottom half into a 9×13-inch pan. You can grease the pan or line with parchment paper for easy removal.

Layer the buns with half of the shredded cheese and half of the pepperoni slices.

Then add all of the cooked sausage and remaining pepperoni.

Top with the rest of the mozzarella cheese and the tops of the buns.

Stir together the melted butter, parmesan cheese and seasonings then brush it over the tops of the buns. Cover the pan with foil and bake for 25 minutes or until all of the cheese is melted!

What to Serve with Pizza Sliders

I like dipping these sliders in warmed pizza sauce to get the full pizza experience. If serving as a meal, I recommend serving alongside a green salad or coleslaw and fresh fruit!

Want to Add Pizza Sauce to the Sliders?

You absolutely can, but you don’t want to spread it directly on the bread (it’ll make it soggy!). Instead, spoon some sauce over the sausage so you have the pepperoni and cheese as a barrier between the bread and the sauce keeping it from getting soggy!

Add Your Favorite Pizza Toppings!

One of the things I love about these sliders is that you can customize them with toppings of your choice. I recommend adding thinly sliced vegetables so they cook thoroughly in the short cook time for these sandwiches!

How to Reheat Pizza Sliders

  • In the Oven: Wrap the leftover sliders in foil then bake for 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the filling is hot. This is the best method to avoid soggy buns.
  • In the Microwave: Place 1-2 sliders on a microwave-safe plate and heat on high for 30 seconds. Add additional time if needed. The microwave is a great option when you don’t have much time though the buns will become quite soft.

Make them ahead of time!

Working on some meal prep for the week or want a head-start on your game day spread? Assemble the sliders and cover tightly with foil. Keep them in the fridge for up to 48 hours before baking. A quick note that they might take an additional 5 minutes to cook as they start cold from the fridge!

  • Feel free to add your favorite pizza toppings… sliced onions, peppers, olives, mushrooms, etc. before baking!
  • You can make these ahead of time by assembling the sliders, covering with foil and refrigerating.  When ready to enjoy, pop them into a preheated oven and bake!  Note that they may take a few additional minutes since they’re starting cold.
